What is Food Intolerance?

Food intolerance is different from a food allergy. Food allergies trigger an immediate immune response, causing the release of IgE antibodies upon consuming a particular food. This can lead to mild to severe symptoms such as difficulty breathing, itchy rashes, swelling, or even anaphylactic shock. In contrast, food intolerance involves a delayed, non-immune response due to the production of IgG antibodies. Symptoms may take two to three days to appear, making it harder to identify the problematic foods.

Symptoms of Food Intolerance:

Food intolerance can affect various systems in the body, leading to:

• Nervous system symptoms such as migraines and mood imbalances
• Respiratory system symptoms such as asthma and sinusitis
• Muscular skeletal system symptoms such as joint pain and muscle pain
• Gastrointestinal system symptoms such as constipation, chronic diarrhea, or unexpected weight loss
• Skin symptoms such as different types of rashes: urticarial or chronic inflammation acne

Testing can help identify the foods that trigger reactions, allowing you to adjust your diet accordingly. By reducing, rotating, or eliminating problematic foods, you can help restore balance to your body and improve overall well-being.
