VitalLife x CSII at Chulalongkorn University Launch Real-World Challenge

An industry–academic collaboration advancing preventive healthcare through practical omni-channel experiences

Bangkok – VitalLife Scientific Wellness Center, a wellness center under Bumrungrad International Hospital, has partnered with the Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (CSII) to launch an Industry-linked Learning initiative that brings real-world business challenges into the classroom. The collaboration empowers students to design solutions aimed at improving Health Literacy among Thai consumers and addressing widespread misconceptions surrounding Wellness and Longevity, while also laying the foundation for a sustainable Longevity Community that creates meaningful long-term social impact.

The initiative was built around the central challenge: “Longevity Community Strategy with ESG Integration.” Students were tasked with developing concepts that not only address individual health needs, but also demonstrate how brands can integrate ESG and CSR principles into their core mission to create long-term shared value for people, communities, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.

A Challenge Beyond Service Design — Transforming the Way People Think About Health

VitalLife challenged students to work across three key dimensions:

1. Redefining Misconceptions Around Wellness & Longevity
Students analyzed the vast amount of health information circulating online, separating evidence-based insights from misinformation to help build a more accurate public understanding of preventive health and longevity.
2. Advancing Health Literacy
Teams designed communication approaches and user experiences that help people better understand their own health and make informed decisions that can be applied in everyday life.
3. Creating a Seamless Omni-channel Experience
Students explored ways to integrate physical wellness services, digital platforms, and virtual care into one continuous experience that supports long-term healthy living.

From Ideas to Real-World Prototypes

Throughout the program, students worked in teams from problem analysis through solution design and final presentations, guided by mentors from both VitalLife and CSII. The outcome was a series of practical omni-channel healthcare prototypes with real-world implementation potential — not merely theoretical concepts.

Among all participating teams, three groups were selected for presenting solutions that successfully connected “health knowledge” with “real-life user experience,” helping bridge the gap between “knowing” and “taking action.”

Asst. Prof. Dr. Polakit Teekakirikul, Chief Executive Officer of VitalLife Scientific Wellness Center and Esperance, and Chief Science Officer of Bumrungrad International Hospital, stated:

“Today’s challenge is no longer just about giving people access to healthcare services. It is about helping people understand what reliable health information truly is — and how to apply it meaningfully in daily life.”

When Information Overload Becomes the Real Health Challenge

The project aligns closely with Bumrungrad’s vision that modern healthcare must begin with accurate public understanding.

Napas Paorohitya, Chief Marketing Officer of Bumrungrad International Hospital, commented:

“In a world flooded with health information, the challenge is no longer finding information — it is identifying what is trustworthy and understanding how to apply it consistently for long-term self-care.”

Connecting Academic Learning with Real-World Innovation

From the academic perspective, working on real industry challenges plays a critical role in preparing students to create meaningful innovations.

Prof. Dr. Suchada Sukrong, Director of CSII, said:

“Learning through real-world challenges helps students understand both user needs and real system constraints, which are essential foundations for developing practical innovation.”

At the same time, VitalLife expressed its openness to further developing high-potential concepts emerging from the program.

“We welcome fresh perspectives from younger generations, as they allow us to see new opportunities and possibilities. At the same time, students gain valuable experience from real-world situations — creating benefits for both sides,” added Dr. Polakit.

VitalLife’s Next Chapter: From Service Provider to Driver of Health Understanding

This collaboration reflects VitalLife’s evolving role — from being solely a healthcare service provider to becoming a driving force behind public health understanding.

Because sustainable healthcare does not begin with treatment alone.
It begins with empowering people with the right understanding from the very beginning.
